Sallie Poggi is a veteran communications strategist whose career spans institutional leadership, global agency work, and digital innovation across California’s most complex stakeholder environments. She brings to LPA the judgment of a seasoned public affairs practitioner and the digital fluency to reach audiences where they actually are with the messages that resonate.
About Sallie
Sallie Poggi joined Lucas Public Affairs as Vice President, bringing more than two decades of senior communications experience at the intersection of institutional credibility, digital strategy, and public affairs. At LPA, she leads the firm’s digital practice — expanding capabilities in campaign strategy, emerging platforms, executive positioning, and the cultural forces research that helps clients understand the environment their messages will land in before they launch.
Sallie’s career has been built on a conviction that the best communications strategy starts upstream — reading the cultural and digital forces shaping public opinion before deciding what to say, to whom, and through which channels. That discipline has informed her work across crisis communications, issue advocacy, brand strategy, and executive positioning throughout her career.
Before joining LPA, Sallie served as Executive Director of Strategic Communications at the University of California, Davis, where she led communications strategy through periods of significant institutional change and built the university’s digital and social media presence into one of the most recognized in American higher education. Prior to UC Davis, she worked at APCO Worldwide and Fleishman-Hillard, two of the world’s preeminent strategic communications firms, and most recently served as the CCO at the University of the Pacific. Her client and institutional work has spanned higher education, health, environment, corporate reputation, and civic engagement across California and nationally.
Outside of work, Sallie enjoys hiking, reading, gardening, and watching her two sons play sports.
