Rising strategist advances to senior role after building deep policy and grassroots expertise for LPA’s clients

Lucas Public Affairs (LPA) has announced the promotion of Claire Schad to Senior Account Executive. Schad’s rise reflects the depth of policy expertise and grassroots strategy she has built for clients since joining the firm as an apprentice.

Schad’s promotion reflects LPA’s continued investment in homegrown talent. She pairs rigorous policy research with relationship-driven advocacy that is a hallmark of the firm’s approach to moving issues in Sacramento and beyond.

“We are thrilled to recognize Claire’s great talents and to see her develop into a trusted partner to our clients,” said CEO and Founder, Donna Lucas. “Claire embodies who LPA is—strategic, an excellent writer, and someone who is invested in developing relationships and expertise on how to activate Californians on issues that matter.”

Schad got her start in communications at The California Aggie, the UC Davis student-run newspaper, where she developed a strong instinct for storytelling and critical thinking that she now brings to her work, helping clients navigate complex issues and communicate effectively with key audiences. She also held internships with the U.S. House of Representatives and TurnUp Activism, a national youth organization focused on voter engagement.

Schad joined LPA as an apprentice and was promoted to account executive, where her background in journalism, research and public policy quickly translated into value for clients. She conducts policy research, supports event planning and execution, and develops content and messaging to help move the needle on key issues. Today, she supports clients on policy areas ranging from natural resources to infrastructure and tourism, pairing a journalist’s instinct for compelling storytelling with effective civic engagement.

“Anyone who has worked with Claire knows that she is an incredibly sharp, talented and thoughtful colleague everyone wants on their team,” said Executive Vice President Jessyca Sheehan. “Watching her grow into this role and take on the challenges with her unflappable style has been a real joy.”

Beyond her client work, Claire is an active member of the Sacramento community. She currently volunteers with She Shares, where she previously participated as a mentee, and is also a member and volunteer with California Women Lead.
