Carri Ziegler| Senior Vice President
Carri Ziegler uses her 30 years of communications experience to actively engage nonprofit organizations, elected officials, businesses and coalitions in developing and implementing strategic communications plans that help shape important public policy. Carri’s career working in and around government at the local, state and federal levels contribute to her success in developing effective public education, media outreach, and grassroots organizing campaigns in support of key policy goals.
Carri joined Lucas Public Affairs as a senior vice president in September 2013, after a decade of managing her own public affairs practice with an emphasis on issues related to health policy, social policy, trade and job creation. Prior to establishing her own firm, Carri worked in Washington D.C. as press secretary for U.S. Rep. Robert T. Matsui, media director for the Washington D.C. office of Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports Magazine, and media director for the National Association of Consumer Advocates. She began her career as a print reporter covering state and local government for the Los Angeles Times, United Press International and The Riverside Press-Enterprise.
Carri serves on the Capital Public Radio Board of Directors, and is a Yolo County Board of Supervisors appointee to the Yolo County Health Council. In 2014, she and her husband, Jay, were honored for extraordinary service to the Davis community for helping to manage five successful local parcel tax campaigns over five years. The campaigns were in response to significant cuts in state funding for education and helped generate more than $77 million to ensure the Davis Joint Unified School District could maintain programs in music, science, libraries and athletics for all students.
Carri earned her BA in Government-Journalism from California State University, Sacramento. She lives with her family in Davis.
