Lucas Public Affairs Talent Continues to Grow

Lucas Public Affairs, one of California’s top strategic communications firms, today announced it has promoted several account staff members and hired a new Office Manager.  These staff changes enhance the firm’s reach and provide additional experience in several areas including media, social media and project management.

Mcclina Wheeler Woods Promoted to Senior Account Executive

Mcclina Wheeler Woods has served as an Account Executive with Lucas Public Affairs since joining the firm in October 2013 after more than 10 years of diverse communications experience. She worked as a planning editor for KCRA television, Sacramento’s NBC affiliate, for three years and also held producer positions at CNN and MSNBC.  Mcclina also has experience in political campaign work, including a stint as Deputy Field Director for the 2008 California Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign in Los Angeles. In her role at Lucas Public Affairs, Mcclina manages some of the firm’s largest clients and provides national, statewide and regional media strategy and outreach for many others.  full bio

Lyndsey Williams Promoted to Account Coordinator

Lyndsey Williams joined Lucas Public Affairs in April 2014 as the Executive Assistant to Donna Lucas. Prior to joining the Lucas Public Affairs team she worked at Cosumnes River College and UC Davis providing administrative, analytical and special project support for several education-related programs.  In these positions she provided assistance in writing grant proposals, developing student workshops, maintaining program websites and facilitating communication between students, staff and faculty.  Lyndsey received her Master in Public Policy and Administration degree from California State University, Sacramento in 2014 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of California, Santa Cruz.  full bio

Katie Hanzlik Promoted to Account Coordinator

Katie Hanzlik joined Lucas Public Affairs as an intern in January 2014, bringing a strong understanding of the California State Legislature and experience with social media and event coordination.  Before joining Lucas Public Affairs, she spent several years at a leading lobbying firm where she tracked bills, conducted research and coordinated lobby days for a variety of the firm’s clients. Katie began her career as an intern in the district office of Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, where she often worked on issues important to constituents. Katie currently serves on the executive board of the Sacramento County Young Democrats, overseeing the group’s social media platforms.  Katie graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara with Bachelor’s degrees in Global Studies and French and also studied at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Lyon, France while earning her degree.  As an Account Coordinator, she provides client support primarily on research, writing, media relations and social media projects. full bio

Miroslava de la O Hired as Office Manager/Executive Assistant

Miroslava de la O will anchor Lucas Public Affairs operations, drawing on the breadth of human resources and accounting experience she gained at S.T. Johnson Company, a combustion equipment manufacturer.  She has extensive experience in project management, events planning, budgeting, human resources and accounting.  Miroslava is a member of Cien Amigos, a civic advocacy group working to reinforce individual and institutional bonds between California and Mexico. In this role, Miroslava helps the organization raise money for scholarships for local high school and college students. In just a few years more than 200 students have benefitted from these efforts. Miroslava holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Crop Science and Management from the University of California, Davis. As Office Manager/Executive Assistant, Miroslava provides key support in administrative functions related to accounting, billing, office operations and oversees the hiring of new employees and human resources responsibilities. full bio
