LPA Interns Host 6th Annual “Capitol Connections” for Young Professionals

Lucas Public Affairs’ 2019 summer interns, Cheukai Makari and Hana Sakauye, welcomed nearly 70 Sacramento area young professionals to the sixth annual “Capitol Connections” intern roundtable discussion on July 30. This year’s panel included Assemblymember Jim Cooper, California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Cathy Rodriguez Aguirre, and Wide Open Walls Founder & Producer David Sobon. These Capitol community leaders and influencers shared their valuable advice and lessons learned on finding passion in their careers, their post-college plans, and the importance of community work.

“Planning this year’s intern roundtable was a valuable experience,” said Hana Sakauye. “Not only was it great hands-on, event-planning experience but also an opportunity to hear directly from a diverse group of Sacramento professionals on how to start your career, learn from failure and be open to new experiences.
